Celebrate the Autumnal Equinox
Happy equinox week! This coming Thursday (9/22) marks the official beginning of fall, when the length of the day and the night is equal; hence the term, equinox. In our busy, fast-paced lives, it is easy to overlook these signs of nature that tell us the seasons are changing. Our farmers are certainly noticing the changes, but are continuing to work hard in providing food for our communities. Let’s take a moment on Thursday to celebrate this time and be grateful for the full summer we have had.
There is still much to come! As you can see below, our van continues to be very full on Monday pick-ups from the Umoja farmers in Concord, and from Friday drop-offs from our Dunbarton farmers. We have baby onions, leafy greens, beets, many varieties of delicious winter squashes, and more!
In other news: Our refrigerated van is back up and running!
We are also celebrating the fact that after a very long wait, our NEW refrigerated van is on line and helping us to deliver you quality food each week (Promaster-image on the right). We are very grateful for the NH Community Loan Fund that enabled us to purchase the van last November. With lags in supply chains, it has finally just arrived! Our older van, the Transit (image on the left), helped us for a few months but broke down for good in July which has added many challenges to our day-to-day supply operations at the Hub; we have spent many hours at U-Haul… so we are very glad to have it here at the hub and ready to go!
